The secluded gardens are sheltered by woodland, forming a pleasant suntrap. The woodland is a habitat of many species of wildlife, including red squirrels. The house was built around 1860, when it became popular with wealthy Victorians to own a house on the Isle of Wight, when Queen Victoria lived at Osborne House during her widowhood. The Oaks is situated in Ryde – The Town on the Beach – a prime location to explore the beautiful scenery and attractions of the Isle of Wight. The Holiday Rentals are located in a quiet position within walking distance of Ryde beaches and town centre. Ryde is conveniently located for day trips to Portsmouth on the Catamaran from Ryde Pier and to Southsea on the Hovercraft from Ryde Esplanade.
